Public Hearing on School Closings

On October 14, 2025, the Bethel Park School District held a public hearing regarding the permanent retirement of six school buildings:

  • Abraham Lincoln Elementary

  • Benjamin Franklin Elementary

  • Bethel Memorial Elementary

  • George Washington Elementary

  • William Penn Elementary

  • School District Administration Building

Some may have been surprised to see the District Administration Building listed in the hearings while Neil Armstrong Middle School was not. However, during the meeting, it was clarified that administrative operations would likely be relocated to the existing Neil Armstrong Middle School building under the district's current plan.

 

These changes coincide with the opening of Bethel Park Elementary School in fall 2026, which will serve students in grades K–5.


Independence Middle School will expand to include grades 6, 7, and 8, while Bethel Park High School will continue to serve grades 9–12.
