District Approved Apps and Websites
Bethel Park School District is committed to carefully selecting systems and online resources that prioritize and protect the privacy of both students and staff. In certain cases, the use of third-party platforms that provide digital content, instructional tools, or interactive learning experiences may require the disclosure of limited personally identifiable information (such as a student’s name and email address) to ensure proper functionality.
In accordance with the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), websites must notify parents and obtain consent before collecting personal information from children under the age of 13. The law authorizes school districts to provide this consent on behalf of all students, eliminating the need for parents to provide consent directly to each website or service provider.
It is important to note that COPPA applies only when a covered website or service collects personal information from students. If no such data is collected, COPPA requirements are not applicable.
App Privacy Policies
The link below provides access to the privacy policies for applications installed on district-managed devices. These applications have been reviewed for compliance with COPPA regulations and are approved for student use within the district. Access is determined by grade level to ensure that students are provided with age-appropriate, academically aligned content. Applications or websites not included in this list are not supported or managed by the district.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit this resource regularly to stay informed about the most current list of approved applications and websites used throughout the Bethel Park School District.
To further support a safe and compliant digital learning environment, the district employs a global internet filter in conjunction with Sophos and Securly for consistent monitoring of student devices. Through the centralization of approved resources, the provision of pre-vetted platforms, and the use of advanced monitoring systems, the district reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a secure, professional, and effective digital environment for both students and staff.
