Independence Middle School students and staff raised $1,060 for the St. Clair Hospital Breast Cancer Care Fund during the school's Pink Out Week this month.
Students and staff received breast cancer awareness bracelets to start the week. Each day had a dress-up theme to show support for breast cancer awareness and for people affected by the disease. The week ended with a schoolwide Pink Out on Oct. 10.
The money will go toward breast cancer care in the community.
