Bethel Park DECA juniors help bring new energy to 32-year community tradition

Two Bethel Park High School juniors are helping one of the community’s longest-running traditions reach a new audience. Aruzhan Akhmetkhali and Kristina Adhikari, interns with the Bethel Park Community Foundation and members of the school’s DECA chapter, have taken on the marketing campaign for Bethel’s Bounty, an annual event that has brought the community together for 32 years.

This year’s Bethel’s Bounty will be held on Sunday, Nov. 15, at the Library Volunteer Fire Hall, a new venue chosen to accommodate more guests after the event was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in recent years. The event features small vendors, food vendors, and a raffle. Community members interested in donating a raffle basket are encouraged to contact Mrs. Christine Firek at [email protected].

As part of their campaign, Akhmetkhali and Adhikari are organizing a pop-up sale at Bethel Park High School on Thursday, Oct. 22, beginning at the start of the school day at The Bean and running all day. Tickets are $50, and teachers and parents are encouraged to stop in.

Akhmetkhali said that while Bethel’s Bounty has deep roots in the community, the event has historically had limited marketing reach. “Bethel Bounty has a long tradition in the community, but there hasn’t been a lot of marketing,” she said. “We wanted to help broaden their horizons and make more people aware of it.” Adhikari echoed that sentiment. “The more people know about this event, the more it strengthens the entire community,” she said.
