Two Bethel Park High School DECA students are calling on the community to help advance water safety legislation before a critical Oct. 2 deadline.
Seniors Cami Fisher and Nora Welch are working on a project to raise awareness about the dangers of low-head dams and raise funds for the Big Heart Scholarship, created in memory of the late Jon Gentile, a former Bethel Park teacher who Gentile fell victim to a low-head dam in 2022 while kayaking on the Delaware River in New Hope, Pa.
As part of their effort, the students are urging community members to contact Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Matthew Bradford before Friday, Oct. 2, to request that House Bill 961 be brought to a floor vote.
