Bethel Park Elementary School has announced its opening calendar for the 2026-27 school year, with the first day of school for grades 1-5 set for Thursday, Sept. 3, following a two-day delayed start announced earlier this week.
Opening a brand-new school requires significantly more preparation than a typical school year. In addition to unpacking classrooms and organizing learning spaces, our teachers and staff will participate in expanded professional learning and operational training — including instruction on our newly adopted K-8 mathematics curriculum, building technology, and the safety, security, arrival, dismissal, and transportation procedures unique to Bethel Park Elementary School. These two additional days will ensure our staff is fully prepared to deliver a safe, organized, and exceptional experience from day one.

- Thursday, Sept. 3: First day of school
- Friday, Sept. 4: School in session
- Monday, Sept. 7: Labor Day — No school

- Thursday, Sept. 3: Students with last names A-K attend
- Friday, Sept. 4: Students with last names L-Z attend
- Monday, Sept. 7: Labor Day — No Classes
- Tuesday, Sept. 8: All kindergarten students attend together
Walk Your Schedule
- Tuesday, Sept. 1: 4-8 p.m.
- Wednesday, Sept. 2: Noon-3 p.m.
Walk Your Schedule is an open building event for registered students and families. During a scheduled one-hour visit, families will receive their child's schedule, locate classrooms and key areas of the building, and experience the flow of a typical school day. Families will be asked to register for a one-hour time slot. A registration link will be shared in the coming days.
Kindergarten Orientation
- Wednesday, Sept. 2: 9-11 a.m.
Kindergarten Orientation gives incoming students and their families the opportunity to explore classrooms, meet staff, learn about school routines and expectations, and take a bus ride.
District officials believe the two additional preparation days will allow staff to complete professional learning, operational training, and safety preparation specific to the new building. The calendar adjustments maintain all required instructional days without extending the school year.
