Under a brilliant late-afternoon sky that gave way to a warm summer evening, Bethel Park High School celebrated the graduation of its 339-member Class of 2026 during the school's 117th Commencement ceremony on Thursday, June 4.
With the golden hues of early evening as a backdrop, Principal Racquel Sutton welcomed graduates, families, and guests to the milestone event. Superintendent Matthew Patterson also offered remarks as the crowd gathered to honor the next chapter in the lives of Bethel Park's newest alumni.
Caroline Zelt delivered the valedictorian address, and Charlotte Gaston served as salutatorian, each reflecting on the class's journey. Class President Grace Perdziola offered a heartfelt senior farewell before Student Government Association President Joanna Little presided over the tassel ceremony — the moment that made it official. The national anthem and alma mater were performed by the school's Top 21 vocal ensemble under the direction of the retiring Todd Kuczawa, filling the warm evening air with music befitting the occasion. The processional was led by Band Director Chad Thompson.
Retiring Superintendent James Walsh introduced the recognition of graduates entering the armed services, a solemn and proud moment in the evening's program. School Board President Buffie Faes formally accepted the class, and the Bethel Park School Board awarded diplomas.
Six members of the graduating class were recognized through the National Merit Program: Timothy Burt, Charlotte Gaston, Samuel Hoppe, Grace Perdziola, Kuon Verbosky, and Parker Walton. The class also included more than 80 National Honor Society members, a testament to the academic excellence that has long defined the Black Hawks.
As the evening sky deepened and the ceremony drew to a close, the Class of 2026 marched off into a future as bright as the summer night that welcomed them into it.
