Bethel Park ranks among top regional school districts

Bethel Park School District ranked 20th among 105 regional school districts and ninth among districts with at least 4,000 students in the Pittsburgh Business Times' 2026 Guide to Southwestern Pennsylvania Schools.

The rankings, released this week, are based on three years of PSSA and Keystone standardized test scores from 2023, 2024, and 2025, calculated using the Business Times' proprietary formula.

Fox Chapel Area School District topped the regional rankings for the third consecutive year. Over the publication's 20-plus years of producing school rankings, four districts have held the top spot: Upper St. Clair, South Fayette Township, Mt. Lebanon, and Fox Chapel.

Six of the top 10 districts regionally are located in the Pittsburgh area's North Hills and South Hills: Fox Chapel (No. 1), Upper St. Clair (No. 2), Peters Township (No. 5), South Fayette Township (No. 7), Hampton Township (No. 9), and Mt. Lebanon (No. 10).

The local rankings include districts in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties.

The full guide includes statewide rankings, Keystone exam rankings, and rankings by grades three through eight, including charter schools. A color-coded map appears in the print edition and online.

The Pittsburgh Business Times publishes annual rankings covering public school districts, fastest-growing private firms, and the area's best places to work.
