Three Independence Middle School eighth-graders have received the National Junior Honor Society Outstanding Achievement Award, a national honor recognizing excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
Addisyn Voytko, Brielle Schafer, and Juliette Hall were selected for the award, which includes a $500 contribution to a 529 college savings account. The distinction is awarded annually to a select group of students nationwide based on academic performance, leadership, service and character.
At Independence Middle School, the NJHS program emphasizes developing well-rounded students who excel academically while contributing to their school and community. District officials said Voytko, Schafer, and Hall exemplify those values.
“Having worked closely with all three girls in the classroom and in service and leadership roles, I can confidently say they epitomize the five pillars of NJHS,” said Mrs. Kathy Foster, the program’s sponsor. “They are as kind and genuine as they are capable.”
Foster said the recognition reflects the strength of the school’s middle-level program and its focus on preparing students for continued success. The Bethel Park School District congratulates the students on their achievement.
