Benlock named March Sudent of the Month by the Bethel Park Rotary

Bethel Park High School senior Tyler Benlock has been named the school’s March 2026 Rotary Student of the Month, recognized for his academic achievement, leadership, and service.

Benlock, the son of Amanda and Jason Benlock, has compiled a 4.6 weighted GPA and serves as president of the National Honor Society. He is active in several organizations, including the Environmental Club and Best Buddies.

Through the Environmental Club, Benlock has participated in community cleanup efforts, including trash pickup events at local businesses. He has also volunteered with the Veteran Appreciation Association, helping organize holiday gift distributions for veterans.

A four-year member of the school’s soccer team, Benlock has primarily played defender. Among his favorite memories are earning a starting role for a time and scoring his first career goal as a sophomore against McKeesport.

Beyond school, Benlock has held three jobs: a caddie at South Hills Country Club, a server at a retirement home, and a carpenter's assistant alongside his grandfather.

Benlock plans to study mechanical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, which he selected over several other outstanding universities, including Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Ohio State. He said his interest in the field stems from a desire to understand how things work and how they can be improved.

He encourages younger students to begin the college application process early and plans to develop a checklist to help guide them.

Benlock said he will miss the daily connections he has built at Bethel Park, including time spent with friends and his sister Jenna, a current student.  His other sister, Julia '24, is a Pitt student.
