The Bethel Park Special Services Department is hosting a Special Services Parent/Guardian Workshop on Monday, May 20 from 5 to 6:30 PM in the Community Room of the Bethel Park Administration Building (301 Church Road). PLEASE NOTE: This is a NEW LOCATION!
The evening will feature a screening of "Intelligent Lives," a movie that challenges what it means to be intelligent, and points to a future in which people of all abilities can fully participate in higher education, meaningful employment and intimate relationships.
The evening will also include an update of the Bethel Park High School Best Buddies Program and an overview of post-secondary options for young adults with intellectual disabilities from ACHIEVA.
Presenters include Shelly Burr, Educational Consultant from the Allegheny Intermediate Unit; Nicole Meier, Program Manager for Best Buddies; Julie Trbovich, Director of Advocacy and Family Supports at ACHIEVA; Lori Sutton, Bethel Park School District Director of Special Education and Dr. Sarah Shue, BPSD Assistant Director of Special Education.
The evening is free and open to any Bethel Park School District parents and staff. Light refreshments will be served and there will be a door prize.
