Memorial Student Wins Third Grade Spelling Bee
The three winners and their principals
Congratulations to Memorial Elementary School Third Grader Michael Blessing, who was the winner of the Seventh Bethel Park Third Grade Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bethel Park.

Michael competed against 40 other Bethel Park Third Graders and received a $250 Amazon Gift Card from the Rotary.  Finishing in Second Place was Penn Third Grader Magnolia Cavagnaro, who received a $150 Amazon Gift Card.  Franklin Third Grader Sam Bell finished in Third Place and received a $50 Amazon Gift Card.

It took eight rounds of spelling to get to the Final 10 spellers--Jenna Benlock, Bryce Postler, Ella Korb, Mia Hogue, Magnolia Cavagnaro, Verona Willets, Sydney Kellander, Michael Blessing, Grant Gealey and Sam Bell.

It took 12 rounds to get to the final two spellers--Michael and Magnolia--and they went back and forth for several rounds until Michael won the Bee by correctly spelling "Mirage."  As the winner of the Bethel Park Bee, Michael was eligible to compete in the Rotary's District Spelling Bee at Seven Springs.

All spellers received a ribbon for their participation.  The Spelling Bee is a natural tie-in for the Rotary Club, as it annually presents every Bethel Park Third Grader with a copy of their own A Student's Dictionary to use and keep.

We congratulate all of this year's spellers and thank the Rotary for this long-standing and valuable partnership.  Please click here to see some photos from this year's Bee!
