District Hires Interim Superintendent
Dr. Joseph DimperioAt its March 24, 2020 Regular Meeting, the Bethel Park Board of School Directors hired Dr. Joseph Dimperio as its Interim Superintendent effective April 4, 2020.
      
Dr. Dimperio will fill the vacancy created by the departure of Dr. Joseph Pasquerilla, who is leaving Bethel Park to become the Superintendent of the Ambridge School District.  Dr. Pasquerilla has been the Bethel Park’s Superintendent since April 2016.
      
Dr. Dimperio has worked in education in Southwestern Pennsylvania for over 50 years.  He began teaching in the Western Beaver School District and Pittsburgh Public Schools before becoming a Principal in Pittsburgh and an Administrator in the Mt. Lebanon School District.
      
He was the Superintendent in the Ambridge and West Mifflin School Districts, and since his retirement, he has served as an Acting or Interim Superintendent in several school districts, including Ambridge, Carlynton, Peters Township and South Side Area.
      
In addition to his role as Interim Superintendent, Dr. Dimperio will lead Bethel Park’s search for its next Superintendent, a job he has done for many school districts, including Peters Township, Upper St. Clair, Allegheny Valley, Carlynton and South Side Area.
      
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History and Political Science from Franciscan University, and his Masters in Education, as well as his PhD in School Administration, from the University of Pittsburgh.  Dr. Dimperio also has a law degree from Duquesne University, specializing in the areas of Pennsylvania School Law and technology as it relates to schools.
      
On the collegiate level, he has taught at Carnegie Mellon, Gannon and Duquesne Universities, and he has written multiple articles for School Administrator and PSBA Magazines.

“He has already provided the District with insightful guidance and advice as we make preparations to deliver instruction to our students during the school closure period, and we look forward to the community welcoming him and getting to know him as our Interim Superintendent.”
