Rotary SOTM: Meghan Tischler
The Bethel Park Rotary Club’s April Student of the Month is Bethel Park High School senior Meghan Tischler. She was recently recognized at a small luncheon at The Garden Restaurant [4912 Gardenville Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15236].

Meghan is an excellent student who carries an outstanding 4.0 GPA. She is also involved in the school’s National Honor Society, Student Government Association, and Interact and the secretary for the school’s Best Buddies chapter.

Tischler said her faith is very important to her, which is one of the reasons she founded “Team Black Hawk,” a student-led Christian sports club dedicated to discussing ways their faith can influence the student’s behavior and performance on the field of play and in every other area of their lives.

“We might read Bible verses and then discuss amongst ourselves how that relates to our experiences or challenges we might be facing,” she said. “It’s very helpful to know that others out there share your priorities.”
Tischler is a member of The Bible Chapel in McMurray and serves as part of its Connections Team, which greets families as they enter the church. She also leads a ministry each Sunday for people with special needs and recently participated in an event called Center Stage, a gala for people with special needs. Meghan’s guest was her Best Buddy from school, Sophia Romano.

Tischler is also an outstanding soccer player and will play collegiately for Grove City College. “My sister attended Grove City and had an amazing experience there,” she said. “When I was considering colleges, there was really only one place that met my spiritual, academic, and athletic needs, and that school was Grove City.”
Meghan is the daughter of Kathleen and Terry Tischler. Her sister, Kelsey ’16, and brother, Ryan ’19, are also Bethel Park alums.
Students are nominated for Bethel Park Rotary Student of the Month by administrators, teachers, students, or community members. They are chosen based on academics, scholastic, extracurricular, civic honors and awards, organization membership, and leadership.

At a monthly luncheon, honorees receive a certificate acknowledging their contribution to their community. For more information on Rotary and its mission, please ask any Rotarians about it or visit bethelparkrotary.org.  You can also visit their Facebook page.
