Anatomy and Physiology Class Sutures Bananas
Suturing 2
Students in Mrs. Megan Farren’s Anatomy and Physiology class recently practiced their suturing skills on bananas.

The students were asked to demonstrate a continuous suture, a surgeon’s knot, and interrupted stitches. Then, as part of their growth mindset reflection, they took a selfie with their banana to demonstrate their work before submitting it through Schoology.

According to Farren, the lesson is a key part of the students’ histology unit and is a perfect way to apply what they’ve learned about tissue repair.

“Our students love this lesson, because it’s a hands-on, very applicable experience,” she said, adding that for some for students, this could be their introduction to a career in medicine.
