The Bethel Park High School Mock Trial Team advanced all the way to the Finals of the Allegheny Mock Trial competition.
The Bethel Park team won its first two trials over Vincentian and Shaler to advance to the Second Round where they defeated Gateway. They defeated Eden Christian Academy in the Semifinals to advance to the Championship Round against Upper St. Clair. The team finished the season one victory away from competing in the State Mock Trail Championships.
This year's trial was a civil case where an employee sued his employer for wrongful termination. Each side competed with three lawyers and three witnesses prepared to participate on either the prosecution or the defense side of the case.
Presiding over the trial was either a judge or an experienced lawyer. Judging the case was a panel of three active attorneys.
Members of the Bethel Park Mock Trial Team were Madison Newman, Elizabeth Hartnett, Christian McClaine, Mara Niccoli, Edric Craven, Greydon Tomkowitz, Caleb Shook, John Veltum, Isabella Kanzius and Blake Melchert.
The students were sponsored by Bethel Park High School Gifted Coordinator Christine Robb. Helping the students with the legal preparation for the case are lawyers Kenneth Hager and Bridget Smith.
Congratulations on a great season!
