The Bethel Park School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. Bethel Park is one of 583 of school districts across the nation to receive this award in 2018. This is the fourth consecutive year that Bethel Park has been recognized with this distinction.
The Best Communities Music Designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Bethel Park answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
“We are extremely proud that our Music Department continues to receive this important designation,” explained Bethel Park School District Superintendent Dr. Joseph W. Pasquerilla. “We are grateful for the commitment of our excellent music educators to not only make music education a great experience for our students at all grade levels, but to also create a culture of excellence that is recognized not only by our community but by others as well.
“We congratulate our students and their teachers, and look forward to continuing this tradition of excellence into the future.”
