Students Honor Veterans With Pancakes And Sausage Breakfast
Grace Lejeck and her Veteran father, Dennis
For the fourth year, the Independence Middle School Student Council Students and the students who participate in the Bring A Smile To The Service group, extended an invitation to all area veterans and active service members to attend a special Pancakes and Sausage Breakfast that was held in the IMS Library.
It was an honor for the students to cook the food and serve it to the more than 50 veterans who attended.  In addition to the pancakes and sausage, there were tables full of goodies--donuts, muffins, cookies and cakes--for the veterans to enjoy.
Every year the event seems to get bigger and better.
Additionally, in the afternoon, representatives from the National Guard, Air National Guard, Army and Marines visited the students to conduct some informational sessions about the various branches of the military, including displays.  Students enjoyed putting on military gear as well as checking out military vehicles in the IMS back parking lot.   Also, a K-9 Unit dog was there to show the students what service animals do to keep everybody safe.

Thank you, Veterans and active service members, for your service!
