Second Graders Learn Fire Safety

← Back Print This Article

Washington Second Graders learned about fire safety, thanks to a visit to their school from two Bethel Park Fireman, including Andy Betzler, father of Washington Second Grader Kendall Betzler.

The firemen spoke to the students about the importance of having smoke detectors in good working order, calling 911 as soon as possible, and not going back into a burning building to retrieve items or pets.
The students enjoyed seeing a fire truck up close, and examining safety equipment such as a thermal imaging camera and the jaws of life.
They also saw Fireman Matt put on all of the fire protective clothing and gear he would wear when fighting a fire.
