Laura Grimm is the new assistant athletic director at Bethel Park. Grimm comes to Bethel Park from Ringgold, where she had been athletic director since 2015.

Grimm was actually hired in August but began the school year at Ringgold to help the Rams kick off their fall sports season.

“Ringgold gave me my start in this business, so of course I felt a sense of loyalty to that school and it was very important for me to leave the right way,” said Grimm, who volunteered to stay through the first few weeks of school before making her way to Bethel Park this week.

“The first few weeks of school are such an important time of the year with things like physicals and eligibility lists and scheduling,” she said. “I didn’t want anyone there to feel like I was leaving them short-handed.”

Grimm, a Bethel Park resident, said the opportunity to work close to home played a big part in her decision, as did the opportunity to work with athletic director, Dan Sloan.  “I’ve known Dan for years and I know how committed he is to the Bethel Park program, especially the student-athletes,” said Grimm.  “When the opportunity arose to be a part of this culture and to work side-by-side with someone for whom I have so much respect, I knew it was an opportunity that I needed to explore.”

Ringgold saw several major accomplishments in Grimm’s tenure including the 2018 Class 3A state baseball championship, WPIAL and PIAA diving championships and several other runners-up for WPIAL championships.

Prior to serving as Ringgold’s athletic director, Grimm was the school’s girls basketball coach.

Grimm is a 2010 graduate of Colgate University, where she also played basketball. A Pittsburgh native and Serra Catholic alum, Grimm Holds the Eagles’ career records for points (1,940), three-point field goals (283), steals (391), and assists (497). She also led Serra Catholic to the 2005 Class 1A girls basketball state championship. Grimm was named first-team all-state honors in 2005 and 2006 and was named the 2005 Associated Press Pennsylvania State Player of the Year.
