Two Students Are Winners In WQED Writers Contest

Franklin Third Grader Sydney Kellander and Fourth Grader Adele Stamenov have been selected as Winners in the 2019 WQED Writers Contest!
 
Adele earned First Place for her story, "No Horn," and Sydney received Second Place for her story, "The Attack of the Great Hairy Hoogilee."
 
Also winning in this year's competition were Lincoln Kindergarten Student Jack Ford, Second Grader Olivia Anderson and Third Grader Alexis King. 
 
They were recognized at a Winners Red Carpet Celebration on May 31 at WQED’s Fred Rogers Studio and awarded prizes, including the opportunity to record their winning story for broadcast on iQKidsRadio.org and featured on Saturday Light Brigade Radio in the summer.  K-3 students’ stories were made into an original puppet play and students in Grades 4-5 had their stories turned into music videos by Pittsburgh Puppet Works.
