Third Graders Learn How To Make Government Work

← Back Print This Article

Third Graders in Mrs. Williams' class pondered the question, "How do people make government work?"

To help them answer that question, they read the stories, "Vote," "Every Vote Counts" and "A Plan for the People."

Mrs. Williams divided the class into groups to create a classroom mascot and then the students voted among the different groups' entries to select their favorite design.  The voting began with nine pictures and then was narrowed to the top three.

After voting, the winner was Pelephant the Elephant for Room 105.

Students really enjoyed learning about and being a part of the voting process.  Please click here to see some photos from the project.
