Eighth Grade students in Mrs. Marshall’s Language Arts class read the Edgar Allen Poe classic, “The Tell-Tale Heart.”
They concluded their unit of study by conducting a mock trial for the story’s narrator—charging him with first degree murder--and playing the roles of judge, jury, witnesses, courtroom artist, and prosecuting and defense attorneys.
The students did a great job of using the story’s text as courtroom evidence. They got into the project by also bringing in props to represent the characters in the story.
