Students Enjoy Staying After School For The Lincoln Learners Program

← Back Print This Article

Thirty Lincoln students had fun staying after school for four weeks, as the Lincoln Learners Program was once again offered.

The program is designed to help students with their literacy and math skills, and utilizes PBS Kids characters Peg + Cat and Martha Speaks to help reinforce the week’s concepts with the students.

New this year is the incorporation of a fun, hands-on STEAM activity.

Throughout the program, kindergarten and first grade students (“Littles”) are paired up with third and fourth graders (“Bigs”) to work together on the activities, which include paired reading.

One of the STEAM activities the students especially enjoyed was making plastic straw launchers out of plastic water bottles.

The program will be offered again in the spring.  Please click here to see some photos from the Fall Session.
