Bethel Park School District recently announced hiring Dr. Mark A. Korcinsky as its new Superintendent of Facilities and Operations. In addition to overseeing the school district’s transportation and maintenance and facilities departments, Dr. Korcinsky will also serve as the district’s point person for the renovation of Independence Middle School and the construction of the new elementary school, scheduled for completion in 2026.

An experienced educational leader, Dr. Korcinsky has served as a teacher, coach, administrator and student advocate. The Brighton Township resident is a member of the Beaver Area School District Board of School Directors.

For the past two years, Dr. Korcinsky has been an assistant principal at Bethel Park High School and was a key team member that brought the high school its first-ever National Blue Ribbon Award. Before joining Bethel Park, Dr. Korcinsky spent decades in the Baltimore County (MD), Beaver Area, Springdale Area, Hopewell Area and Seneca Valley School Districts, serving in various roles.

During his 13-year tenure as the Seneca Valley Senior High School principal, Dr. Korcinsky oversaw significant growth both educationally and from a facilities and operations standpoint.  He was part of a team that helped transform Seneca Valley from a struggling school district into one of the highest-performing school districts in Western Pennsylvania.

Dr. Korcinsky also honorably served and is retired from the US Army/Army Reserve, serving in leadership positions ranging from Commander, Executive Officer, Aide de Camp and Special Projects Officer across the globe within the Medical Service Corps and Corps of Engineers.

Bethel Park School District Superintendent Dr. James Walsh said Dr. Korcinsky’s experience in both education and logistics made him a well-suited candidate for his new role.

“As we continue to invest in our infrastructure and improve our operating systems, Dr. Korcinsky’s background in the military’s massive operations, coupled with his experience as an administrator overseeing a construction project, make him the ideal person to lead the operations of the district at this critical time for Bethel Park,” said Dr. Walsh.

Dr. Korcinsky earned his Bachelor's in Biology and Secondary Education Certification from Mercyhurst University.  He went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Leadership as well as a Principal's Certification from Franciscan University of Steubenville. Furthering his education, he earned a Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility from Westminster College and a Doctorate of Education from Point Park University.

Advocating for students, educators, and parents, Dr. Korcinsky served thirteen years at the local, state, and federal levels as a PA State Advocate for the Pennsylvania Principals Association and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

The married father of two resides in Brighton Township with his wife, Nancy, and their two sons.  He has been active in the community as a volunteer coach for youth sports, shade tree commission member, and cub scout team leader, as well as booster and community organizations.

Dr. Korcinsky succeeds Dr. Zeb Jansante, who will retire at the end of the school year.
