District And Transportation Union Ratify New Agreement

At its May 19, 2020 Regular Voting Meeting, the Bethel Park Board of School Directors approved a collective bargaining agreement with the Bethel Park Transportation Department District Council 84 AFSCME.

The new agreement will be five years in length and in effect from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2025 and covers 60 drivers, 16 aides and 4 mechanics.
The current agreement will expire on June 30, 2020.
The agreement raises starting salaries to $22 per hour, with drivers at the top of the scale making $23 by the end of the contract.
The contract will continue to provide both full-time and part-time employees with school-district subsidized health care insurance coverage through the Allegheny County Schools Health Insurance Consortium, with employees continuing to pay 10% of their premium.
“We are pleased to be able to settle this contract without a stoppage of work,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Joseph C. Dimperio.  “Our transportation employees play a vital role in the success of our district, and we look forward to the day when they will be able to transport our students safely to and from school.”
