Franklin families and staff came out in full-force to thank two retiring teachers--Health and Physical Education Teacher Mrs. DeCarlo, who is retiring after 30 years in Bethel Park; and Third Grade Teacher Mrs. Vandewater, who is retiring after 21 years in the District.--with a special retirement parade in their honor.

Families and staff decorated their cars and lined up in the Church of the Nazarene parking lot on Saturday, May 16 to travel to Mrs. DeCarlo's house, where she and Mrs. Vandewater were overwhelmed with the outpouring of support, cards, gifts and signs--all thanking them for being great teachers and wishing them well in their retirement.

The parade was led by several Bethel Park Fire Department vehicles and even included two Shriner mini-cars!  It's estimated that 100 cars participated in this show of appreciation.

Both teachers were surprised to not only see so many staff and current families, but also former students who wanted to join in the celebration!

Congratulations to both teachers and best wishes in this next chapter of their lives!  Please click here to see some photos from the parade.
