BPHS Students Earn 20 Awards On National German Exams

Bethel Park High School German students earned 20 awards on the 2020 National German Exams, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German, including three Gold Awards, one Silver Award, five Bronze Awards and 11 Achievement Awards.

Earning Gold Awards on the Level 4 Exam were seniors Jacob Bauer and Brandon Janus, who scored in the 91st percentile nationally, and placed seventh among the 146 Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia students who took the Level 4 Exam.  Senior Lily Wilson also earned a Gold Award for placing ninth regionally and scoring in the 90th percentile.  All three of these students are now eligible to apply to win a scholarship to travel and study in Germany this summer.
Senior Logan Zivic earned a Silver Medal on the Level 4 Exam for scoring in the 80th percentile or higher.  Bronze Awards for scoring in the 70th percentile or higher on the Level 4 Exam were earned by senior Alex Murphy and juniors Johnatan Ivanov and Ben Sommer.
On the Level 3 Exam, Bronze Awards were earned by sophomores John Robert and Owen Dale.
Achievement Awards were given to 11 students who scored in the 50th percentile or higher nationally.  Earning Achievement Awards on the Level 4 Exam were senior Gabby Straub and juniors Olivia Tabler, Kerrianne Troesch, Anthony Martinelli and Alex Wiernik.  Level 3 Exam Achievement Awards were given to sophomores Nick Como Braden Lloyd, Ella Voskamp, Maxwell James, Shelby Yonish and Zach Bradford.
The students are taught by Bethel Park High School German Teacher Christopher Tobias.
