Western Pennsylvania is always a wonderful place to live, but it comes alive in the fall as the temperatures drop and the trees burst into glittering red, yellow, and purple displays. Friday nights in the fall are especially exciting as local high school football teams square off against their local rivals in games that take on increasing importance with each passing week when your team is having a good season.
Homecoming Weekend is often the pinnacle of that experience as the air is crisping up and the school year is in full swing. Nothing gets the juices flowing like the steady drumbeat of the marching band, the blaring of the horns and the approving roar of the crowds.
This year’s homecoming festivities were held as September gave way to October. Bethel Park, which is enjoying one of those wonderful seasons, welcomed Penn Hills to Black Hawk Stadium and hundreds of alumni and friends of the district. The weekend began with a parade from St. Valentine Catholic Church to the high school campus. The parade was followed by the Hawks game vs. the Indians, which Bethel Park won, 28-7. The weekend culminated in a dance in the high school cafeteria, which hadn’t hosted that event since 2019 due to the pandemic.
This year's Homecoming Queen was
Alayna Banks.
Sebastian Schein was crowned King.
Mia Gerber and
Jasper Harter-Hughes were the Princess and Prince respectively.
