Bethel Park students excel in Elks Hoop Shoot contest

Bethel Park students recently competed against kids from other area schools in the Elks South Hills Pittsburgh Lodge #2213 Hoop Shoot free throw contest for children ages 8-13 at the Bethel Park Community Center.

The winners of each of the three age groups, which included William Penn’s Cara Schuster (Girls 8-9) and Jaxon Vuchenich (Boys 8-9), have advanced to the District Shoot competition on Jan. 7, at Robert Morris. They will compete against other local winners throughout Western PA.

Other top performers included:

  • Landon Johnston (Washington) and Dylan Baier (Penn), finished in second and fourth place respectively in the Boys 8-9 division. 

  • Violet Henderson (Franklin) and Lexie Sarneso (Washington) finished in third and fourth place, respectively in the Girls 8-9 division. 

  • Elliott Betz (Penn), Liam Volkert (Franklin), Parker Danley (Washington) and Jai’ven Harris (Franklin) came in second through fifth respectively in the Boys 10-11 division.

  • Addy Owen (NAMS), Kelly Felicetti (Franklin), Gianna Pusateri (Penn), Ava Edwards (Memorial), and Ruby Vignoli (Washington)   came in second through fifth, respectively in the Girls 10-11 division.

  • Parker Benjamin (NAMS) and Cameron Betz (NAMS) took second and third, respectively in the Boys 12-13 division. 

  • Ella Carbone (NAMS) took second in the Girls 12-13 division.
