Bethel Park High School Honors and AP German students earned 2 Gold Awards, 2 Silver Awards, and 2 Bronze Awards on the 2023 AATG National German Exam. Six additional students were commended for their achievements with Honorable Mention commendations.
On the Level 4 exam, senior Cody Hendrych-Bondra (AP German) and junior Lucas Hertzel (Honors German IV) were among just seven students in Western PA and West Virginia who earned Gold Awards (90th percentile or higher nationally). Junior Brandon Mason (Honors German IV) ranked among the 12 Western PA and West Virginia students who earned a Silver Award (80th percentile or higher nationally). Senior Carter Kicinski (AP German) was one of the 22 Western PA and West Virginia students who earned a Bronze Award (70th percentile or higher nationally).
The Gold Award winners can now apply for the AATG/PAD National German Exam Scholarship to travel and study in Germany this summer.
On the Level 3 exam, sophomore Brady McKiernan (Honors German III) was one of only 9 students in Western PA and West Virginia who earned a Silver Award, and sophomore Katelyn Wolf (Honors German III) was among the 13 students who earned a Bronze Award.
The AATG also recognized six BPHS German students with an honorable mention for their achievements. On the Level 4 exam, senior AP German students Jason Turske and Mira Weston, as did junior Honors German IV students Jacob Kalogeris and Parker Nelson, received a commendation. On the Level 3 exam, Honors German III students Jacob George (sophomore) and Chloe Gorman (junior) were recognized.
