All three Bethel Park School District Finalists were winners in the 2018 WQED Writers Contest!
Congratulations to Franklin Third Grader Adele Stamenov, who received Second Place for her story, "The Broken Watch;" Memorial First Grader Harris Wannous, who earned Third Place for his story, "The Fish Who Had a Wish," and to Lincoln First Grader Olivia Anderson, who was named an Honorable Mention for her story, "Luna's Perfect Pet."
Adele, Harris and Olivia joined the other 23 Finalists at a Winners Celebration on Saturday, May 19 at WQED's Fred Rogers Studio, where they were named as contest winners and awarded prize,s including the opportunity to record their winning story. Their winning recordings will be broadcast on iQKidsRadio.org
and featured on the Saturday Light Brigade Radio in the summer of 2018. Their stories were also be made into original puppet plays, which were performed at the Celebration by Pittsburgh Puppet Works.

This year more than 1,000 stories written and illustrated by students throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland and Delaware were submitted for the competition.
