Independence Middle School Students Earn Four Medals At FCCLA State Competition

Seven Independence Middle School students earned four medals at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America’s State Competition, which was held in March in the Poconos.

Earning a Silver Medal and the opportunity to compete at the FCCLA National Competition in Atlanta in June were eighth graders Alyjah Carter, Shia Epperson and Anayah Hunter for their project, “We All Scream For Juniper Berry Ice Cream” in the Food Innovations category.
Also earning a Silver Medal was seventh grader Mia Geudtner for her project, “Dream to Décor” in the Recycle and Redesign category.
Seventh grader Ella Morgan earned a Bronze Medal and a chance to compete at the FCCLA Nationals for her project, “Presents for Parents of Preemies” in the Illustrated Talk category.  Also, seventh graders Anna Marie Lorenzi and Ella Heubner earned a Bronze Medal for their project, “You’re Special In Your Own Way” in the Focus on Children category.
They were prepared for this competition by Independence Middle School Family and Consumer Science Teacher Heather Fontana.
