Bethel Park School District comprises five elementary schools, Neil Armstrong for grades 5-6, Independence Middle School for grades 7-8 and the Senior High School. Bethel Park educates over five thousand students annually. We hope you'll take some time and explore all that our school district has to offer.

Keep Your Kids Safe! The Bethel Park School District is partnering with Allegheny County Councilman Vince Gastgeb and the Bethel Park Police Department to present a free informational program for parents, which will be held on Wednesday, May 14 from 7 to 9 PM at the Bethel Park Community Center. "Keep Your Kids Safe—Educating Parents on the Potential for Drug Use" will feature representatives from the Allegheny County Health Department, Juvenile Court/Probation, the Bethel Park Police Department, the school district and Gateway Rehabilitation to discuss with parents how to identify and deal with issues of inappropriate and harmful behavior in their children. The evening is free and all Bethel Park parents are encouraged to attend. |

Extra Mile Winners Announced! Congratulations to the Twenty Bethel Park School District employees who were presented with an Extra Mile Award on April 22 for going the extra mile during the 2007-2008 school year. Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate a Bethel Park School District employee for this honor. |

Congratulations to Bethel Park High School English Teacher Charles Youngs, who has been named
one of 12 Finalists for the 2009 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year.
The Teacher of the Year will be announced in October but we wish Mr. Youngs
the best as he proceeds through the judging process. |

At its February 28, 2008 Voting Meeting, the Bethel Park Board of School Directors authorized the district's architects, Weber Murphy Fox, to proceed with the Schematic Design Phase of services and the preparation of PlanCon A & B for Option 2, the construction of a new Bethel Park High School. Seven Cafeterias Feted by Health Department! Seven Bethel Park school cafeterias earned Black Diamond Awards from the Allegheny County Health Department as the result of its most recent inspections in February and March. Neil Armstrong was awarded 11 Black Diamonds (the most ever by a Bethel Park school); Memorial (9 Diamonds), Franklin (8 Diamonds), IMS (7 Diamonds), Lincoln (3 Diamonds), Washington (3 Diamonds) and Penn (3 Diamonds). Black Diamonds are presented to the facilities that have demonstrated exceptional conditions. Congratulations to our cafeteria staffs! |

Edline Now Available for Neil Armstrong, Independence and Bethel Park High
School Parents! Parents whose children
attend Neil Armstrong and Independence
Middle Schools, and Bethel Park High School now have electronic
access to their child's academic progress through Edline. In September
all parents received an Edline Activation Code via U.S. Mail. Parents are
encouraged to go to www.edline.net
and activate their child's account. The website will guide you through
the process. Once an account is activated, parents can see their child's
interim grades posted for the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th weeks for
assignments, tests and quizzes, as well as attendance and final report
card grades. Parents who have difficulty accessing Edline can contact
Donna Murphy (412-854-8581) 12th grade, Wanda Gratton
(412-854-8591) 9th grade, Judy Daley (412-854-8584) 10th
grade or Lynne Pieczynski (412-854-8571) 11th grade at Bethel
Park High School; Cindy Stalder (412-854-8677) or Ann Ball (412-854-8678)
at Independence Middle School; and LuAnn Sautel (412-854-8756) or Nita
Wright (412-854-8751) at Neil Armstrong Middle School. We encourage all
parents to stay up to date with their child's progress via Edline.
Parents who do not have access to the Internet can do so at the Bethel
Park Library. Librarians are available to assist. |

Immunization Requirements Changing for 2008-2009:
Parents, please be aware that immunization requirements for all students
will be changing, beginning with the 2008-2009 school year. Shortly, you will
be receiving a letter from your child’s school nurse, outlining the
changes and the things you must do to comply with the new requirements.

The Bethel Park Community Foundation is gearing up for the Second Annual Rev Up and Roll Car Cruise and Craft Festival to be held at the South Park Fairgrounds on Sunday, June 22nd from 10 AM to 8 PM. If you would like to be one of the 350 volunteers needed to staff this event, please contact
