Welcome to George Washington Elementary, one of five elementary schools in the Bethel Park School District.
Located in Bethel Park, a suburban area south of Pittsburgh, the school is staffed by a faculty that strives to present an instructional program that challenges all students to reach their potential as lifelong learners and responsible members of society.
As a kindergarten to grade four elementary school, our basic charge is to provide for the academic needs of the full of student abilities. In addition to a strong academic program, we provide regularly scheduled classes in physical education, art, vocal music, library/media and computer instruction. The percentile scores achieved by our students in grades one through four are consistently in the mid-eighties to low nineties.
Other features of our curriculum include the use of a superior mathematics program as rated by the National Council of Mathematics Teachers, an integrated language arts program that combines the aspects of reading, language and writing. We also incorporate a hands-on science program in cooperation with ASSET, Inc., a non-profit organization created by the Bayer Corporation in 1992, to advance the instruction of science at the elementary level.
