Lincoln Loggers Begin Training For Kids Marathon
Students running outside
The Lincoln Loggers are off and running with their preparation for the Pittsburgh Marathon's Kids of Steel Marathon, which will take place on Saturday, May 5.
Every Friday during recess, the students train.  The Lincoln students are not "fair weather" athletes!  No, instead if the weather doesn't permit running outside, the students walk inside when the weather is bad.  Their goal is to amass 25 pre-race training miles, so they can run the final mile with other kids on May 5 in downtown Pittsburgh.
On one of their training days, the students were joined by Stewart Jones, Youth Coordinator for P3R, the organization that runs the Marathon, who came to work out with the Lincoln students.  He provided the kids with some extra motivation, and we appreciate his visit to Lincoln!
This is the sixth year the students have participated in this fun, life-long fitness activity!  Thanks to Mrs. DeGregorio for coordinating!
