Squonk Opera Teaches About The Science Of Sound
Students give a thumbs up to the assembly
Steve and Jackie from Squonk Opera visited Franklin with a new program about the Science of Sound.
This fun, interactive show taught students some interesting concepts about sound, such as how the ears work, how bats and whales use echo location/sonar, how to make different sounds by blowing into pop bottles and why piano keys make different notes.
The students helped Steve and Jackie illustrate these concepts by participating in some hands-on experiments.  The students also listened to music to determine if it was happy, sad or scary, and learned about the concept of rhythm.
