Neil Armstrong Middle School students and staff worked together to raise money and purchase gifts that will be given to children who have military parents who are deployed overseas, thanks to an organization called Operation Santa.
Through various fundraising efforts, such as a pretzel social, $3,600 was raised, and NAMS sixth graders had the honor of going on a shopping trip to purchase the gifts. The students were given a set amount of money and they used their math and shopping skills to purchase gifts using all of the money they were allotted. They shopped at several local stores, such as Wal-Mart, Toys-R-Us and Target. They also had the opportunity to wrap their gifts! In addition to the gifts, a $1,500 cash donation was also made to Operation Santa, bringing the 2017 fundraising total for this project to $5,100! Thank you!
This tradition of holiday giving to others has been happening at NAMS for almost two decades. Thanks to everyone who supports this effort!
