Approximately 85 Bethel Park brass musicians in grades 5-12 made their way to Bethel Park High School after school to participate in Brass Day 2017!
The musicians split into two groups, with the BPHS and IMS musicians participating in a Master Class with will get together to rehearse songs, participate in a Masterclass low brass educator, musician, comedian and podcaster Lance LaDuke, who is a music professor at Duquesne and Carnegie Mellon Universities. Mr. LaDuke has played with the Boston Brass, the United States Air Force Band and the River City Brass Band. He put the students through several exercises focusing on posture and breathing to help enhance their performance. While the older musicians were in the Master Class in the Orchestra Room, the NAMS musicians were rehearsing in the Band Room.
Then the students reversed activities, before coming together for one large rehearsal before they traveled to Bethel Park Retirement to perform holiday songs for the residents.
It was a great day of learning and sharing. Please click here
