Neil Armstrong Middle School students participated in a Halloween-themed STEAM activity as part of their library curriculum, constructing catapults that would launch fake eyeballs.
The students built their catapults by using popsicle sticks, rubber bands, glue and a foil cupcake paper.
Librarian Mrs. Minnick provided the students with some guidelines how to construct their catapults, and then they were able to make modifications to them to enable them to propel the fake eyeball higher and farther.
The eyeballs were made from ping-pong balls.
The best part, of course, was launching the eyeballs to see how far they would travel. The average distance traveled was approximately 12 feet.
