Memorial Third Grader Wins BPSD Spelling Bee

Congratulations to Memorial Elementary School Third Grader Neha Adhikari, who won the Sixth Annual Bethel Park School District Third Grade Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bethel Park.

As the winner of this year's Spelling Bee, she received a $250 Amazon Gift Card, courtesy of the Rotary Club, and is now eligible to compete in the Rotary's District Spelling Bee, which will be held at Seven Springs in June.  Good luck, Neha!

Finishing in Second Place and receiving a $150 Amazon Gift Card was Lincoln Third Grader Lillian Graff.  Washington Third Grader Michael Hladio finished in Third Place and received a $50 Amazon Gift Card.

This year, 32 spellers entered the event.  It took 12 rounds to get down to the final 10 spellers.  Neha won the Bee by correctly spelling "concentration."  Lillian captured Second Place with "coyote," and Michael correctly spelled "auditorium" to finish in Third Place.

The Spelling Bee is a natural extension of a long-standing partnership the School District has with the local Rotary Club.  Each year, the Rotary Club of Bethel Park generously donates a copy of A Student's Dictionary to every Bethel Park Third Grade student, which is theirs to keep.  The Dictionaries come in handy as the students prepare for the Bee.

Thank you, Rotary Club of Bethel Park for this valuable partnership!  Please click here to see some photos from this year's Bee!
