Bethel Park High School students earned 16 awards, including one Medallion Award and 16 Awards of Excellence, at the 2017 DECA International Career Development Conference, which was held April 28-May 1 in Anaheim, CA.
Senior Rachel McClaine earned a Top 10 Test Score Medallion in the Human Resources Management event.
Earning Awards of Excellence for meeting all the standards of performance in their respective events were seniors Tarush Bahl (Financial Consulting); Noah Bussard, Carolyn Cook and Chandler Dietz (Independent Business Plan); Cassidy DeLeo (Learn and Earn Project); Julia Massari and Kenna Zimmer (Public Relations Plan); Rachel McClaine (Human Resources Management); Deanna Nagel and sophomore Lexi Schanck (Advertising Campaign); senior Josh Poe and sophomores Dalton Moore and Tim Nuss (Hospitality and Tourism Research).
Also earning Awards of Excellence were juniors Samantha Dunn (Principles of Hospitality and Tourism), Emma Harris (Financial Operations Research), Audra Kozlowski (Start-Up Business Plan), Karlie Olson (Hospitality Professional Selling), and Maria Schiller and Delaney Strzyz (Financial Literacy Promotion Plan).
Awards of Excellence were also presented to sophomores Diana Brueggman (Business Growth Plan) and Alyssa George (Restaurant and Food Service Management), as well as freshman Marissa Christenson (Creative Marketing Plan).
Over 19,000 students participated in this year’s event, representing all 50 United States and several foreign countries. In each event, students competed against an average of 200 teams or individuals.
