The Bethel Park School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. Bethel Park is one of 4% of school districts across the nation to receive this award in 2017. This is the third consecutive year that Bethel Park has been recognized with this distinction.
The Best Communities Music Designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Bethel Park answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
“Music Education is an important component of our curriculum,” explained Bethel Park School District Superintendent Dr. Joseph W. Pasquerilla. “We are extremely proud of the reputation for excellence our district-wide music program has maintained over the years. Receiving recognition from the NAMM Foundation only reinforces our belief that we provide all of our students with a quality musical experience during their school years.
“We are proud of the work our Music Department Teachers do to continue to uphold the high standards of the Bethel Park Music Department and look forward to continuing this tradition of excellence into the future.”
