District Approves New Contract with Custodial/Maintenance Employees
At a Special Meeting of the Bethel Park Board of School Directors, held on May 17, 2012, the Board approved an agreement with the Bethel Park Custodial/Maintenance Educational Support Personnel Association that will be in effect from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2016.
The previous agreement expired June 30, 2011. The agreement covers the school district’s 33 custodians and five maintenance employees.
The contract provides for an average 2.7% salary increase. Wages were frozen in 2011-2012 at the 2010-2011 level, but for 2011-2012 only, current employees will receive a one-time salary payment of $200 each.
Health care coverage, including medical, dental and vision, will continue for all full-time employees and their families with the Allegheny County Schools Health Insurance Consortium’s HMO Medical Insurance benefit. Employees earning between $30,000 and $44,999 will pay 2% of their monthly health insurance premium beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, and 3% by 2015-2016. Employees earning $45,000 or more will contribute 6% throughout the life of the contract.
