The 2009-2010 school year is here!  Please scroll down to see some of the exciting things that took place in our school recently!

Paramount Pals Spread Holiday Cheer

A group of 15 Lincoln Third and Fourth Graders have formed a group called the Paramount Pals.  Each month they pay a visit after school to the Paramount Retirement Community near their school.  In December they were joined by Lincoln Teachers Mrs. Dowds, Mrs. Dewey and Mr. Booz, as well as Mrs. Pazuchanics and several parents to sing some holiday songs and spread some holiday cheer to the residents.

Kindergarten Students Enjoy Gingerbread Story

Lincoln Kindergarten students were "treated" to a tasty story called "The Gingerbread Pirates," read to them by Mrs. Pazuchanics, the school librarian.  The story described the antics of a band of gingerbread pirates, led by none other than Captain Cookie!  Thanks, Mrs. Paz, for sharing this story with us!

Third Graders Learn the Preamble

Third graders in Mrs. Esposito's room are getting ready to hold an Historical Tea next semester and they're already learning patriotic songs and important facts about our country.  As part of their social studies lessons on the American Revolution, the students learned an easy way to memorize the Preamble of the Constitution--through song!  Here are some photos of the students practicing their song, which they will perform at the Tea.

Students Entertain at Retirement Community

A group of 12 Lincoln third and fourth graders learned how important it is to be involved with all members of the community when they volunteered to participate in a Halloween Community Service Project at the Paramount Retirement Community.  The students stayed after school one night for a practice and then they went to Paramount on October 29 to perform a skit from "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," sing some Halloween songs and told some jokes.  After the performance, the students mingled with the residents and enjoyed some cookies and punch with them.  The students had such a good time they are planning a return visit to Paramount in November.  Thanks to Librarian Mrs. Pazuchanics for coordinating this great event.

Fourth Graders Improve Their Multiplication Skills with Games

Learning multiplication is easy in fourth grade, thanks to a couple of math games the students use to improve their skills.  Students partner with one another to play games such as Math Baseball and Math War, where they must use their multiplication skills to correctly answer problems, to advance in the game.  Even though the games technically only have one winner, every student who learns how to multiply correctly is a winner!

Second Graders Have  A PAWSitive Reading Experience

Second Graders in Erin Sweeney's room participated in a PAWSitive Reading Experience, thanks to a visit to their classroom from three certified therapy dogs who sat and listened as the second graders read aloud to them.  The students enjoyed reading to a cocker spaniel, golden retriever and Bernese Mountain  Dog named Yuri, who made his first classroom appearance at Lincoln!

Weather Cooperates for Golf Outings

One of the coolest things about Lincoln is that it's next door to a Miniature Golf Course!  A back-to-school tradition is Miniature Golf Week at Lincoln, where the students have the opportunity to get to know their classmates over 18 holes of miniature golf.  The weather cooperated and everybody had a great time!
