About Our School |
| |
Abraham Lincoln Elementary School offers an exciting learning environment for students in Kindergarten through Fourth Grade.
At Abraham Lincoln Elementary, the staff implements consistent and developmentally appropriate curriculum and methodologies to meet the needs of all students. Our classroom teachers are skilled at providing differentiated instruction, a process that guarantees all students will be challenged to learn at their own levels--beginning, developing and expanding. We emphasize positive behavior support and maintain a climate where students and staff feel safe and valued. Technology is an important part of all we do. Most important of all, computers in the classroom and the computer lab are used for hands-on learning and exploration. Parents and guardians are important partners in the learning process. We have an active PTO and encourage volunteer involvement at all levels in our school.
We invite you to learn more about our school by exploring this site. Whether you are a current member of the Abraham Lincoln "Family," a prospective homeowner, or an alumni returning for a cyberspace homecoming, Abraham Lincoln Elementary School welcomes you!

• Don't Take A
Vacation From Reading! The
Bethel Park Public Library has some great summer programs, and Librarian
Miss Elaine is busy planning some
great things for young readers! Lincoln has the reputation for being
the elementary school with the most participants during the summer, so let's
keep the tradition going in 2009!
Also, if
you go to
http://www.bookadventure.org/ you
can create a log in for you and your child to browse for book ideas based on
grade level and interest. You can also use the QUIZ-o-Matic feature to
take Accelerated Reader-type tests and earn points. This site is a
great way to keep comprehension skills sharp over the summer and a great
place to look for new book ideas.
If you
have any questions over the summer or want to keep Librarian Denice
Pazuchanics up to date with what books your
child is reading, feel free to email
abrahamlincolnpto@yahoo.com and share your thoughts!
She will be checking this email regularly this summer.
Happy
summer, and keep reading! |

Edline Now Available for Parents of 2nd, 3rd and 4th Graders--Parents
of 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders will receive information in their child's report
card envelope on January 27 about how they can set up an Edline account to
gain electronic access to their child's academic progress. The letter
will provide parents with an Edline Activation Code and parents are
encouraged to go to
www.edline.net to activate their
child's account. The website will guide you through the process.
Once an account is activated, parents can see their child's interim grades
posted for Math, Language Arts and Spelling for all three grades, as well as
Social Studies for third and fourth graders. Parents who have
difficulty accessing Edline can contact the school secretary for assistance.
We encourage all parents to stay up to date with their child's progress via
Edline. Parents who do not have access to the Internet can do so at
the Bethel Park Library. Librarians are available to assist. |

• Recycle Your Paper
at Lincoln--We now have an Abitibi
Paper Recycling Bin located in the Lincoln parking lot, next to the
Kiducation bin. Please consider dropping off your clean paper,
newspapers and magazines (shredded paper is OK if it is in a sealed plastic
bag with holes punched in it so it doesn't take up a lot of space in the
bin). Please, no dirty paper, telephone books or boxes. Thank
you for doing your part for the environment and to help Lincoln raise money. |

• District to
use ALERTNOW Notification Service as an additional communication tool
between the school district and parents--Keeping
parents informed is a top priority of the Bethel Park School District, and
we will be using the ALERTNOW Notification Service to send telephone and/or
email messages to parents and/or employees to notify them of things such as
school delays or cancellations due to inclement weather. With
ALERTNOW, you won't have to watch television to wait for Bethel Park's
status to scroll onto the screen. Parents will be notified by phone
when the district makes the decision to close or delay. ALERTNOW can
also be used to remind parents of upcoming events at school. But most
importantly, in an emergency, ALERTNOW has the capability to launch 12,000
phone calls a minute, so parents don't have to rely on Phone Chains to get
emergency information. In an emergency, ALERTNOW has the capability to
call up to three phone numbers per student. ALERTNOW also has the
capability to send out email messages to one email
address per student. Please click
here
to learn more about ALERTNOW. We hope you will agree that ALERTNOW is
another way the district can keep parents up to date. |
