* About Our School

Abraham Lincoln Elementary School offers an exciting learning environment for students in Kindergarten through Fourth Grade.

At Abraham Lincoln Elementary, the staff implements consistent and developmentally appropriate curriculum and methodologies to meet the needs of all students. Our classroom teachers are skilled at providing differentiated instruction, a process that guarantees all students will be challenged to learn at their own levels--beginning, developing and expanding. We emphasize positive behavior support and maintain a climate where students and staff feel safe and valued. Technology is an important part of all we do. Most important of all, computers in the classroom and the computer lab are used for hands-on learning and exploration. Parents and guardians are important partners in the learning process. We have an active PTO and encourage volunteer involvement at all levels in our school.

We invite you to learn more about our school by exploring this site. Whether you are a current member of the Abraham Lincoln "Family," a prospective homeowner, or an alumni returning for a cyberspace homecoming, Abraham Lincoln Elementary School welcomes you!

•  Parents, We Need Your Input!  We are asking all Bethel Park Parents who have children in grades K-6 to take a few minutes to complete a brief survey that will provide us with valuable feedback regarding the effectiveness of the HALT! Bully Prevention Program, which is being used in all elementary schools as well as Neil Armstrong Middle School.  Please click here to be connected to the survey.  Please respond by Wednesday, November 25.  Thank you for your help.  Your input is very important to the program's success.

• Attention, Elementary Parents--If your child is enrolled in either the "Let's Read, Let's Write" or the "Stepping Up" after school tutoring programs, you are invited to attend a Federal Programs Parent Information Night on Thursday, December 3 from 7 to 8 PM in the Memorial Elementary School Multi-Purpose Room.  The purpose of this meeting is to provide a brief overview of how federal funds are allocated to programs in the Bethel Park School District.  We hope you will be able to attend.

•  H1N1 Update--On October 14, the school district was notified of two test-confirmed cases of H1N1 at Bethel Park High School and cases have also been confirmed at Neil Armstrong Middle School, Lincoln Elementary School, Memorial Elementary School and Franklin Elementary School.  There have also been several students throughout the district who have exhibited flu-like symptoms and have been diagnosed by their doctors as having H1N1 or H1N1-like symptoms, but their conditions were not officially confirmed via laboratory testing. Please click here to read a letter to all Bethel Park families from Dr. Knight, that outlines what parents can do to help keep their children from getting/spreading H1N1 or other viruses.  If you or any member of your family experience flu-like symptoms, you are encouraged to contact your family physician.  As always, the best defense against communicable disease is proper hand washing. We ask parents to keep their children home if they are exhibiting symptoms or do not feel well. Please click here to learn more about H1N1/Flu Tips.  Please click here to go to the Bethel Park Health Services web page.

• Parents Can Monitor Their Child's Cafeteria Purchases via PayForIt.net--All Bethel Park cafeterias are using the QSP point of sale system. With this new system, parents will able to log on to see what your child is eating, how much money is in your account and to set up email reminders to let you know when your account is running low.  For more information, please go to the BPSD Food Services web page.

Edline Now Available for Parents of 2nd, 3rd and 4th Graders--Parents of 2nd, 3rd and 4th can monitor their child's academic progress electronically via Edline.  Parents are encouraged to go to www.edline.net to activate their child's account to see their child's interim grades posted for Math, Language Arts and Spelling for all three grades, as well as Social Studies for third and fourth graders.  Please contact your school secretary for additional assistance.  Parents who do not have access to the Internet can do so at the Bethel Park Library.  Librarians are available to assist.

•  Recycle Your Paper at Lincoln--We have an Abitibi Paper Recycling Bin located in the Lincoln parking lot, next to the Kiducation bin.  Please consider dropping off your clean paper, newspapers and magazines (shredded paper is OK if it is in a sealed plastic bag with holes punched in it so it doesn't take up a lot of space in the bin).  Please, no dirty paper, telephone books or boxes.  Thank you for doing your part for the environment and to help Lincoln raise money.

•  District to use ALERTNOW Notification Service as an additional communication tool between the school district and parents--Please click here to learn how you can stay up to date with what is going on in your child's school electronically via ALERT NOW.
