Message from the Principal Mr. David Muench

Welcome to another exciting school year! My name is David Muench and I am the Principal at Independence Middle School .

IMS, as it is affectionately known, is the next step on your child's journey through school. It is probably hard for you to imagine that they are already halfway through their total school experience. Time really does fly! We look forward to having your child at IMS over the next two years. You will find that IMS has a great combination of academics and extra-curricular activities that will challenge and fulfill your child.

Independence Middle School has a long-standing tradition of excellence that your child is now a part of. This middle school has earned high acclaim as a nationally recognized “Blue Ribbon School” on multiple occasions. This is a direct result of the hard-working staff and quality of students that are here. Other accolades include awards from the National Secondary School Recognition Program. Another tradition of excellence here is our students' outstanding community involvement. Students commonly volunteer in soup kitchens and other community projects. These are but a few of the great examples of the kinds of things going on at our school.

A trademark of this middle school is its comfortable and inviting environment that enables students to feel at ease. The staff and I would like to continue this with your help. The following three things are items I asked your children to remember when I first met them. I am asking you to please reinforce these things with us:

•  Respect your teachers

•  Respect your classmates

•  Remember why you are here

These are things that are essential to having a positive school atmosphere and experience.

It is an absolute privilege for me to be serving in the capacity of Principal. I thank you for your support in our school and look forward to many positive interactions with you. If you ever feel the need to discuss any issues with me or the staff, please do not hesitate to call.

Most sincerely yours,

David M. Muench

Principal, Independence Middle School
