Emergency Response for IMS Parents
This page will contain information needed in case of an emergency inside or outside of Bethel Park school District.
Dear IMS Families:
In these stressful times in our nation, we want to assure you that our school is keeping the safety of your children as a top priority. The IMS administration and staff are working closely with the district administration, the local emergency response networks, and the various government agencies to insure that every precaution is being taken. We have developed plans for various types of emergencies that could occur. In order to be successful in our efforts, we need your full cooperation. As parents ourselves, we know that your natural instinct will be to come to the school to retrieve your children. However, that may impede our best efforts to get all of the children to their homes as quickly as possible. We will need to focus our full attention on the children and not on directing traffic. A rush of parents may cause confusion and congestion resulting in serious delays.
To assist you in knowing the school's immediate response, we will post current information on the IMS website, on the announcement hotline, the district announcement line, and on the main telephone lines for the school. Please turn to these sources for information before taking any action. In the event of an evacuation, IMS and the high school will be the first schools to release. Private vehicles attempting to enter the IMS driveway will hamper our efforts to evacuate students causing a further delay in reaching the younger students in an efficient manner. Your compliance with these directions will assist us in insuring the safety of all of the students of the Bethel Park School District.
