What the Dalmatian is used for?       The Dalmatian is and was used as a hunting dog. When they would hunt they would usually go after ground and feathered game.  Ground game is like bunnies, pheasants, and foxes. Feathered game is basically birds.

 

Dalmatians were also used as coach escorts in the 1800s. They would run alongside the coach, it is said that Dalmatians are great with people, horses, and coaches.

   The Dalmatian needs a lot of exercise, and attention as well. The Dalmatian needs more than just a short walk on the leash they need a nice long walk. They are great jogging companions and love running around.  The Dalmatian can also meet its needs by games that incorporate a lot of running like Frisbee or catch.

 
 

The Dalmatian doesn’t just need exercise they need a companion to, soft bedding and also shelter. The Dalmatians beautiful spotted coat also needs care, minimal bathing, but you need to brush the dead hair off them as often as possible.

 

Health issues 

      The main health concerns for a Dalmatian are deafness and urinary stones. Urinary stones are a unique defect for the Dalmatians. Some minor concerns are allergies, seizures, iris sphineter dysplasia, and hypothyroidism.

 
  Some suggested tests are hearing, eye, and hip thyroid. A Dalmatians lifespan usually lasts up to 12-14 years of age.
 

Form and function 

           the Dalmatian is a square proportioned and an athletic dogs with sturdy bones. The Dalmatian is built for endurance and efficiency at the trot. Their movement should seem steady and effortless.

History

The Dalmatian has no certain birthplace. It gets its name from “Dalmatia,” a region in west Yugoslavia. The Dalmatian was AKC recognized in 1880. Its flashy coloration has always ensured that it has been popular as a pet and in dog shows.

 
 

It has extreme ups and downs in popularity.  Impulse buying followed by movies featuring Dalmatian stars followed by a backlash when so many of these unprepared homes were ill suited for Dalmatian ownership and laid the blame  on the breed.

 

Looks
