After more than 7 years of planning, including 52 months of construction, Magic Kingdom opened on October 1, 1971. When entering the park, you step on to Main Street, USA. While on Main Street you can’t help but notice Cinderella’s Castle. Magic Kingdom consists of several parts of the park including Adventureland, Fronteirland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, Mickey’s Toontown Fair, and Tomorrowland. Magic Kingdom was the first Walt Disney World Park to open. |
| Epcot, opened in 1982, became the gated theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort. Epcot consists of 2 main parks, including Future World and the World Showcase. The themes of Future World are agriculture, communications, car safety, the ocean, energy, health, imagination, and space. The World Showcase is unlike and other international exposition. The group of pavilions that encircle World Showcase Lagoon (a body of water the size of about 85 football fields) shows Disney’s conception of participating countries in realistic, entertaining, styles. Shops, restaurants, and attractions are housed are housed in a group of structures that give the nation’s countryside their own flavor. | ![]() |

In 1989 a third theme park was added to the wait Disney World Resort. A celebration of movies and Hollywood, MGM was designed to give visitors a peek at the secrets of moviemaking and to bring back memories through shows and attractions. Visitors of MGM studios have an opportunity to experience movies, TV, and animation. Fantasmic! a musical production plays highly at the Hollywood Hills amphitheater on Sunset Boulevard in the park. |
| Animal Kingdom, dedicated to the wonders of the animal kingdom, opened in 1998. The parks visual and symbolic center is the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life features 325 carved images of many different species of animals. In addition to shows and exhibits, Animal Kingdom is also home to a variety of wildlife. Here, guests do more than just watch the action… they live it! They become paleontologists, explorers, and students of nature. | ![]() |

Typhoon Lagoon is one of the two water parks featured in Walt Disney World Resort. This water park was inspired by an imagined legend. Typhoon Lagoon features water slides and streams. While there, conquer one of the worlds largest artificially created waves. The park opened on June 1, 1998. |
| Blizzard Beach is another one of Disney World’s water parks. A wintry, water wonderland, Blizzard Beach is said to be the result of a storm that dropped a mountain of snow onto Walt Disney World. Blizzard Beach was actually meant to be a ski resort, but when temperatures dropped and the snow began to melt, designers prepared to close the resort. When designers spotted an alligator sliding down the slopes, they realized they created a water park! Blizzard Beach is the newer of the two parks, opening on April 1, 1995.
